#inthezone 33: Eid Mubarak!

Good afternoon folks. You might be able to guess what #inthezone is about this week by the title, for those that are confused…EID MUBARAK! Now some of you might be thinking “what exactly does Eid Mubarak mean?”…put simply, it’s the Muslim version of Merry Christmas and it means something along the lines of “may your Eid be full of blessings”.

Muslims worldwide are celebrating the end of Ramadan, a month in which they have to fast from dawn until dusk. This means no eating, drinking, smoking or anything of the sort during the whole day time. 2016 was exceptionally difficult because these fasts lasted around 18 hours, so bravo, you made it!

Now, Eid is usually celebrated for 3 days, so we understand that people are still mid-party mode, which is why we didn’t want to make this blog post too lengthy. The purpose of this was to just give a quick shout out to all you that are celebrating, you earned it!

If you didn’t know, Birmingham had the record again for the biggest Eid celebration in Europe! This quite an amazing feat, as over 80,000 worshippers showed up to worship. Read more about it in The Asian Today’s article

Pady Himalayas

At Wow, not only are some of us celebrating Eid, we’re also celebrating the return of a Legend…Pady! He returned to Birmingham on Monday after a month long adventure in the Himalayas. Yes, we’re all quite envious of him, because he didn’t only come back with the best haircut ever, but some amazing pictures of his journey. In his own words, below is how he described his overall experience:

“This journey was definitely one of the best adventures I’ve ever experienced. Cycling through the beauty of the Himalayas, visiting places only a few people ever see in Nepal, and spending time with my family has just been awesome. Some days, it was quite a struggle to climb up the hills with the mountain bikes, but usually the descent was worth the pain we had to go through. Nepal is a stunning country with loads of culture, friendly people and an awesome cuisine – just amazing!”

So there you have it, if you’re ever in South Asia, you should definitely hit up Nepal!

Well there you have it, that’s basically #inthezone for you this week! Just a quick catch up with our amazing fanbase, wishing everyone an Eid Mubarak and a great week. Stay awesome…
