Google and Facebook May look into Buying Twitter

Search engine giants Google and social media behemoths facebook are both said to be in talks over the possible purchase of Twitter, which also ranks as one of the most popular social media sites on the web.

The Wall Street Journal claims that executives at both companies have been engaged in low-level discussions with Twitter for months over a possible purchase but, at this moment in time, the discussions remain at a low level.

Twitter is being valued at anywhere between the £5 billion and £7.5 billion mark and would be a big buy for either company, especially as the social media website increases in popularity.

If Facebook were to purchase the company it would mark the first major acquisition by the company since its inception.
