Google Criticised for Allowing Dog Fighting App onto Android Market

A controversial new app, named Dog Wars, has come under attack by animal welfare groups who are outraged that Google would allow an app promoting dog fighting to appear on their app store.

It has led to calls for Google to begin monitoring their Android Market in a similar way to Apples App Store to prevent such apps from becoming available to the public.

ESPN described the game, stating “Dog Wars” is a cellphone app that “lets players feed, water, train and fight their virtual dogs against others.

They continue, stating the Kage Games website “features an illustration of a pit bull with a bloody muzzle next to the ‘Dog Wars’ logo.”

The app has caught the attention of the Humane Society, which commented “Android should drop ‘Dog Wars’ from its online market and join the national movement to save dogs from this violent practice.”
