Google Found Guilty of Copyright Infringement

Google has been forced to pay out almost 500,000 Euros in compensation to a film producer who claims the search engine giant violated his copyright by making his freely available on the search engine.

A French court accepted the accusation made by film producer Mondovino in a case that also included a number of documentary makers and photographers. The judge upheld the complaint that their work had been made available through the Google search engine and on Google video, despite demands to remove it.

The search and advertising giant must pay E430,000 in damages and lawyers’ fees, AFP reports.

Google may consider an appeal against the decision.
