Google set to Donate $1.25 million to Nelson Mandela Archive

Google has announced that it is set to donate $1.25 million to a project that is aiming to create an archive of African leader Nelson Mandela’s life.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation Centre of memory is aiming to digitise photographs, documents and letters that related to the icon, with much of the money being raised to enable the project to collect relevant documents from a variety of different sources.

Google have also announced that they will be donating a similar sum to a project which chronicles the life of Archbishop Desmond Tutt.

Finally the search engine operator will also be providing their expertise by way of advising the foundation on how best to digitise the documents that they manage to attain.
