Google Update Google Commerce Search

Google has announced that it has updated its Commerce Search program, including new features like Search as You Type, Local Product Availability, spell checking and recommendations. The company is still striving to provide the best possible search results in the system and believes that the new updates will translate into a better shopping experience for their customers.

The update will mark the third iteration of the Google Commerce Search service and should provide shoppers with a more customizable way to search for products and also allowing for a more interactive shopping experience.

Technology blog Fast Company think the changes are a pre-cursor for “a rich NFC [near field communication]-enabled shopping experience somewhere down the line.

“If shoppers in real stores had access to this kind of rich data, accessed via Google’s engine through local NFC tags instead of online search parameters, then they’d also benefit from the same sort of assisted shopping experience.”
