A Quick Guide to Setting up your Business Page on Pinterest

Pinterest have become the latest social networking website to offer specific pages for businesses. It seems that with the growing presence of businesses within Pinterest they are going to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Facebook and LinkedIn to offer some added functionality (or at least a way to differentiate your business from the average user). I have just created the Wow Internet Pinterest page and it couldn’t have been easier. Here’s how you can do it…

Convert your Pinterest Page

The first step is to visit http://business.pinterest.com and log-in with your existing Pinterest account. You will then see this lovely big button asking you to ‘convert your existing account’, so give this a click and you will be presented with a form to fill out with your business information.

Fill out you Pinterest profile PAGE

Once you have filled out this page, you’re good to go! You will be forwarded to your shiny new Pinterest business page. Below is a quick screenshot of what the Wow Internet Pinterest page looks like:

The final things that need to be done are to verify your website which involves adding a small HTML file to your web server in order to link your Pinterest account to your site. To do this, simply click on the box at the bottom of your profile page that says ‘verify website’. Follow the instructions they give and you will have successfully linked your website to your Pinterest account.

Verify your Pinterest Business Page

That was easy, wasn’t it? Now you can Pin away, safe in the knowledge that your users can identify your account as a business. Marvellous! Feel free to check our page out and send some love our way.

Thanks for sharing this, has anyone figured out what advantages being on Pinterest as a business has?

Hi Joan, I think that for certain industries, Pinterest can be incredibly beneficial to your business. There is a huge, albeit predominantly female, captive user-base which is growing faster than any other social network.

Businesses within retail industries such as the fashion industry have seen some great success through Pinterest. It can also give local businesses a way of developing some brand evangelists which can be crucial to spreading the word of your offerings.

My advice would be to check it out and get your business a page. Once you start using Pinterest and interacting with users, you will soon see the benefits.

Thanks, Matt. I have a personal Pinterest page, but was thinking about using Pinterest for business and not sure how to go about it.

Hi Jacqueline, no problem. The way I would go about it is to either use your company Twitter account and log-in to Pinterest this way then create your business page or you could use a separate company email address. Do whichever you find easiest.

I would avoid just simply merging your personal account though because, well, that's for you! Hope this helps 🙂

should I remove that code from the site after verification?

Hi Janis,
No, keep the code on your website, just like you would with Google Analytics.
