#inthezone 17: Taking opportunities

Taking opportunities

This week is a special week. We have our upcoming Football game, the one-dish party for Sarah’s leave, Mr. Mango’s Delivery Diary Part 3, a new team member (the good looking lad on the banner) and Qasim’s trip to Solihull CollegeFunnily enough, there actually may be too much content to fit on this article…So without further ado, let’s do this!

There is quite a rivalry brewing in the office between both team captains. If you saw our YouTube video (which was released on Tuesday), you’d already know this! Adnan, and I quote, wants the others team to “cry” whereas Qasim is sticking to his “values” and plans to keep it professional. Will Adnan’s trash talk lure him into playing a more aggressive game? Or will Qasim’s composure overcome all of Adnan’s banter? One thing’s for sure, there can only one victor! Watch the video HERE and catch up on all of the action! Drop a comment to let us know what you think too :).Safina's Cheesecake

Moving on to food…a much tastier topic! We’re having a one-dish party in order to honour Sarah’s departure to France. For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, let us enlighten you! Everyone in the office has to bring in a dish they cooked themselves at home. If done right, the end result will be quite a beautiful sight. Food left, right and centre! We do encourage that everyone’s dietary needs are met as well, to avoid anyone feeling alienated or left out. Not only is it great for saving money on an expensive lunch, it gives the team precious “bonding time” and allows us to have a taste of different cuisines/cultures. We think Safina won the day with her “Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake”…

Qasim recently visited Solihull College. A lovely lady going by the name of Jaz showed him around the place. Linked to the college is also the beautiful Tudor Grange building! In his own words, he said “it’s a state of the art College and University! Their facilities are magnificent, I was really blown away. A massive thank you to Jaz for showing me around; she’s doing a fantastic job as a business manager and she will really take the college forward into the right direction”.

So…quite a few things happening. I guess it’s just another day at the office. To Sarah we say good luck, we hope to see you again in the future so be sure to visit us! With that being said, we’d like to change the vibe and make everyone think for a second. Sometimes great opportunities are missed because of a fear of the unknown. With Sarah’s departure comes another French intern, Thibaut (we’ll introduce you to him next week)! Anyway, if you can look hard enough, there is opportunity everywhere. Just thinking about it, being born in a great country like England with a roof over your head AND food on the table puts you ahead of most of the world. People fail to see the blessings until they are all taken away. Go out, do something great with your life. We say this over and over again but you only get one chance so make it count! The same principles apply to business. People are scared to change it up and do something new because they’re not sure if it will. This is a missed opportunity in itself; remember high risk = high reward.
